Forever? Friday: Emily & Phil

Don't you love it when guys are smart enough to propose in a meaningful spot? I do! And I also think you'll enjoy this week's proposal story from Emily W. (Springfield, VA).

For starters, it was a really big deal to Phil to surprise me since he knew I knew he was going to propose and all. A few things I did not know at this point, however, were that he had the ring, and that he had talked to my father so I didn't think there really was any way it would happen this weekend...

We flew home to California from Utah for Thanksgiving and the first night Phil had to go into San Fransisco for some work stuff so I tagged along for the ride. I slept in the car while he went to take care of his work stuff. When he got back he suggested we go down to the Pier since we hadn't been back since we went on our first date there, and we probably wouldn't have a chance to go the rest of the weekend. It was later afternoon on a weeknight, so the whole place was pretty empty which was nice. We walked around for a few minutes and ended up at this particular spot that looks over the harbor with all the sailboats.

This spot has a funny story with it: on our first real date we had come here and it had been the perfect spot and moment for a first kiss, so naturally I'd prepared myself for the "moment". Well, he'd leaned in and kissed me on both cheeks and my forehead and then walked away... LAME! Anyway, to say the least I was a bit peeved (only jokingly) that he would botch such a perfect first kiss moment!

So we passed that history-filled spot and we stopped to talk about it a little bit and just to watch the sailboats, and he gets down on his knee. Of course all I can think is "What the... you have to talk to my dad first" and all the other reasons he must be joking! Once I got over those thoughts I had a hard time focusing on what he was actually saying, but I believe it was along the lines of him knowing I was disappointed in the way events transpired the first time we were there and he wanted to make it up to me yada yada... I love you will you marry me! YAY! I did say yes and I finally got my perfect moment on the Pier.

Thanks for flaunting it Emily and Phil! You guys are such a cute couple, with such a great story!

Hope you all have a weekend full of recognizing the little moments that make love so HUGE! :)
