Forever? Friday: Amber & Brian

We have so many great proposal stories pouring in, I can't wait to feature them every Friday! Keep 'em coming! For our first week, though, I thought I'd feature a story that is near and dear to my heart...mine! :) I figure if I expect all of you to share your innermost gooey sides, I should be willing to do the same, so here we go:

Brian, my future husband, had been working in D.C since September, while I was living in Salt Lake City. On December 7th, about 9:30pm, there was a knock at the door. We'd just returned from a family Christmas party, and it was snowing like crazy. The house was lit with tons of Christmas lights, and my family had settled down for a game of cards (they were all in on it, the stinkers. Brian had been chatting with my mom on the phone everyday for the past couple weeks getting everything ready...sneaky sneaky. Looking back, that explains why she was frantic when one of her strands of Christmas lights wasn't working...). I got sent to answer the door, and there was a guy standing there with a bouquet of long-stem, red roses. He said they were for Amber, and apologized for getting them there so late. He said the bad roads had slowed him down. I shut the door and found a picture of me and Brian from 7 years before, when we'd first met, attached to the vase. On the back of the picture was a cute note from Brian about that beginning stage of our relationship. My family played dumb, and I thought, "Sweet! He sent me flowers" and the game continued. A couple minutes later there was another knock, and another bouquet of flowers. The delivery guy apologized again, saying he'd missed these ones last time around. I was laughing as I found another picture of me and Brian from a bit further into our relationship and another cute note. A couple minutes later, another delivery. This time my favorite Star-gazer lilies. A recent picture was attached, and a cute note telling me how he felt about me now (apparently he loved me, or something like that... :) I think he still might!)..... By this point I was on high alert (I know...I know...I'm quite the smart little cookie). When the doorbell rang a couple minutes later, I was ready!! Brian was standing on the porch in the snow with another gorgeous bouquet, and a ring, and he knelt down and proposed! I of course said no. ha ha ha....riiiiiiiiiiiiight. I said, YES (or something along those lines). Now here we are 2 1/2 years later, and I still think it's the best decision I've ever made.

How's THAT for goopey? :) Hope you all enjoyed our first Forever? Friday. Join us Monday for a fun wedding mishap, and keep those stories coming!

  1. Remember how when we were young, watching all those sappy romance movies we used to dream about the day that it would be us. You never thought it would happen, this sweet story is living proof that it did:) The life you and Brian have made is just like the movies, only better-- because it is real:) I love this story:)
